You've Always Had The Power, My Dear

You've Always Had The Power, My Dear

“Follow the yellow brick road,” is solid advice from our pseudo-mom Glinda the Good Witch, as Dorothy embarks on her journey to find the “Wizard of Oz” and find a way home. In Buddhist teachings, the “Golden path” is referred to as the path to your soul, a inner search to discover enlightenment and return to your Higher Power, to an all-knowing God.
Is the The Wizard of Oz a story of enlightenment? The fascinating and complex tale by L. Frank Baum may have a deeper spiritual teaching.

The game of life and how to play it

Written by a children‘s novel author, The Wonderful World of Oz was long-thought of as a pro-populist allegory about the demonetization of silver in 1873.
According to Hugh Rockoff, the cyclone that carried Dorothy to the Land of Oz represents the economic and political upheaval, the yellow brick road stands for the gold standard, and the silver shoes Dorothy inherits from the Wicked Witch of the East represents the pro-silver movement.
He went on to suggest the City of Oz earns its name from the abbreviation of ounces in which gold and silver are measured, hence “Oz.” While some historians like Rockoff believe the comparisons to the gold standard debate in the late 19th century, others think the story is nothing more than a coincidence.

Did Dorothy always have the power?
What power is Glinda suggesting?
