I couldn't accept it as truth when I was first introduced to the concept that it was our own mind, our own imagination, that was the key to manifesting our own circumstances in life. I read more, I studied more, I experimented with my own life to see if I could BLOW IT UP and turn it into something else. And then I DID IT!
I put my imagination to work for me and imagined a new life at the beach without a clue how I would achieve it. (read the full story here).
I had just spent the last ten years living in the mountains and having children, and while I enjoyed it for the most part, my marriage came to an end. I was supporting myself and my children working two jobs while scheduling court dates and counseling appointments. It was time to change my circumstances and I used this quote by my buddy Albert to help me pull it off.
Are we each capable of manifesting our desires by simply visualizing?
I know there are plenty of skeptics, and it is a sketchy feat to prove, but this time I have pictures.
After I pulled off my big move from the mountains to the beach, my family and I settled into our new little beach community. We discovered the farmers market and the best taco stand, we attended the events at The Clark Center and the local melodrama, and we especially appeared at the beach when people rush down to catch the sunset and inevitably get stuck in the sand.
Yes, it happened to me also. But not to worry, there's always plenty of heroes around to help you out. Driving my nice Buick Regal on the coast with the waves rolling in may have been fun, but I had longed for a truck!
Aside from joy-riding on the beach, I wanted to ride up taller on the freeways to see the traffic better, and I wanted to bring home furniture whenever I found a bargain without relying on someone else and their truck. And now my car started needing repairs more often and I was missing work because of the engine trouble and then again to get it fixed.
What's a girl to do? It was time to start searching for a new vehicle and a way to finance it... YIKES! I didn't think I could afford a car payment, but as children will always point out the obvious, how much was I already paying every month for car repairs? So, yes, $350 would make a nice monthly payment and save me all that time spent visiting the mechanic.
THE TRUCK SEARCH WAS ON! I needed a king cab to transport my kids to facilitate our custody schedule, but I also wanted a dependable truck, so it couldn't be too old or have too many miles. I spent a week checking out the three local used car lots and narrowed down my choices to a different truck on each lot.
The first truck I tried to qualify financing for fell through. I had managed to come up with a $2,000 down payment, but they insisted on $3,000. I just wasn't going to be able to raise any more money for the down payment right now.
I tried my luck at another lot. After two days and untold amounts of paperwork, they came up with the same conclusion: I need $3,000 down, no way around it. The salesmen tried to sell me a nice, dependable car I could qualify for with $2,000 down. BUT NO! I wasn't giving in! I didn't want some practical sedan again, I wanted a truck!
In my mind, I had made the decision to sell my car, I had arranged the money, it was just a matter of finding the right truck. I would need to expand my search into a larger community. I heard about a website where dealers and private parties put up their vehicles for sale and you can search within a certain-mile radius.
I spent hours every night after work looking and searching for a truck that met my criteria. It was hard to find a dependable truck in my price range, but I believed I could find one in a larger city where there was more competition on the used car lots. I just had to find the right dealer that offered financing.

Another week or two passed before I could narrow down the truck choices in a 200-mile radius. With ten or twenty choices on my list, I realized that any and all of these trucks meet my criteria... they were all about my price range, they were all around the same 75,000 -120,000 mileage for a ten year old truck. They all had my minimum options of air conditioning and power windows, for example, so how do I choose?
I finally had to get over my "decision fatigue" and just pick one! Since it was all about the right numbers, and all these trucks had the right numbers, I chose the easiest one to drive to which meant two hours south along the coast vs. two hours over the winding, twisty mountain roads to the valley. So instead of a white or gold Nissan or Ford, it was the blue Chevy Silverado.
I called the dealer and got pre-approval over the phone. My daughter would come with me on the long drive early Saturday morning so she could drive my car back while I drove home in my new truck.
It took a bit of time to get used to driving that big blue truck! Turns out it was lifted! I discovered early on that the lift could cause excessive wear on the transmission and that it did effect the speedometer, so I had to watch my speed!

However, the JOY OF DRIVING the big blue truck made up for any extra expense for gas or wear or tear, or whatever! Watching the sunset on the beach now was even better while driving my truck along the coast on "Sand Highway."
And driving up and down the state of California was so much easier when I was riding up high over the traffic in that lifted truck. I remember traveling over the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco one night at midnight... no other vehicles on the road at that moment, so the lights of the bridge and the full moon was truly spectacular.
A YEAR PASSED and I was downsizing from a large house with all the kids to a smaller townhouse, walking distance to the beach. The garage was barely big enough for my truck, but I could lightly bump the back wall with the bumper and actually fit into the garage. It was the only way to make sure I was all the way inside and could close the garage door. It was meant to be!
As were getting settled into the new place, I was setting up my computer and cleaning up some old files. I came across some pictures that I set aside for a vision board... no board yet, just a collection of pictures. I was stunned.

At no time when I was searching for a truck and buying a truck did I remember anything about this picture or anything about my desire for a BLUE truck specifically.
But two years later, here's the picture that my subconscious mind remembered and searched out for me. The front end is a little exaggerated here, just like my lifted truck, just like the one I manifested into my life. IMAGINE THAT!
